BHOPAL: State government is going to dispose the issue of unused land worth Rs 13,000 crore available with various departments soon. Several departments have land within and outside the state.
These lands are neither sold nor are they used for any project. The state government has decided to prepare a list of such lands.
A land disposal authority (LDA) is being constituted to decide on such lands. The LDA would be advising the concerned departments how to dispose the lands.
The LDA would have officers from finance and revenue departments to advise on usage of these lands. The lands which may fetch huge profit to the government would also be sold.
The state government has properties across the country including Somnath and Delhi. The previous governments did not show any interest in these properties.
Provident Investment (PI) Company was assigned the task to take care of the governmental properties. In the wake of gross irregularities that took place in PI Company, the government is now seriously considering disposal of available properties.
The disposal of properties located within or outside the state may bring significant revenue to the government. It is also under consideration that the land not used by a department may also be transferred to another department for its full utilization.
According to Chief Secretary, SR Mohanty said contemplation on forming an authority is underway to make sure that all properties of the government may be utilized.
