Bhopal: A police team comprising personnel from Kotwali and Bazaria police stations who went to arrest miscreants involved in loot and theft cases were attacked by their relatives. Women in Sikandari Sarai area near Bhopal railway station pelted stones on the police team on the intervening night of Saturday and Sunday. In the attack, three police personnel, including two ASI, were injured and they had to return empty handed.
According to information, on Saturday night, ASI Jitendra Kewat posted at Kotwali police station along with four constables took two miscreants to Bazaria police station. They were arrested by Kotwali police in connection with a theft case. Based on their inputs, police went to Mustafa Ki Chaal in Sikandari Sarai of Bazaria area to arrest two habitual offenders – Firoz Lootera and Shoaib Puncture – who were also involved in the theft case.
ASI Dileep Singh of Bazaria police station who was on night duty joined them and at around 1:30 am, the police team went to the house of Firoz near railway station. However, when they knocked the door and called Firoz by name, the women members of family present inside the house went upstairs and pelted stones from terrace on police team.
The cops managed to get hold of one of the accused but his relatives attacked them with bamboo sticks as a result, the accused managed to escape from clutches of police. In the attack, ASI Dileep Singh, ASI Jitendra Kewat and a constable Shivprakash Pandey got injured. Later ASI Dileep informed senior police officials on wireless about the incident after which more police force was sent from police control room to the crime scene but till then the accused as well as their family members managed to escape from the spot after locking their houses
