Bhopal: Expressing solidarity with the people facing the wrath of nature in Kerala, members of the Malayalee community in the city have cancelled the week long Onam celebrations. The state capital’s Malayalee Associations have joined hands in mobilizing relief articles including blankets, medicines, grains, mineral water and other essentials to the flood-hit state.
A truck loaded with blankets and two trucks of mineral water will be sent to flood hit areas of the Kerala in next two says. Mineral water will be procured from Coimbatore and will be sent to the affected area. United Malayalee association (UMA), Bhopal Malayalee Association (BMA), HEMA Education Society, Mandideep Malayalee Association, Lions club, Sehore Malayalee association, Hoshangabad Malayalee association and other organizations have come forward to arrange for relief fund. Besides city doctors, medical students from AIIMS, students and professors from IIESR would also contribute to this relief fund.
Kerala Flood Relief Committee with Sehore-based company Jayashri Gayatri Food Products is arranging for the relief kit and other articles. Part of the articles will be sent from Bhopal, while rest of it would be procured from Hyderabad and Coimbatore.
A truck loaded with woolen blankets will be flagged off from Sehore. Grains including wheat flour (20 ton), rice (20 ton), sugar (5 ton), moong dal (10 ton), pulses (10 ton), mineral water( 2 trucks), bucket & mug (1000 each), steel plates & LPG cylinders (2000 each); ladies gown( 1000 nos), towel (1000 Nos); lungi (1000 nos), soaps ( 2000 nos) would be arranged and sent to the flood-ravaged state.
Convener of flood Relief Committee OD Joseph said, “A Kerala Flood relief fund committee has been constituted by Bhopal Malayalee associations to help the people facing wrath of nature in Kerala. The committee convened a meeting at HEMA Higher secondary school to chalk out further plan to help the flood victims. The commit has decided to immediately sent medicine and other essentials to the flood hit state.
Director Jayshri Gayatri Food Products Private Limited Rajendra Modi, Sehore, along with flood relief committee members are taking the stock of arrangements. First batch of consignment of blankets and medicines will be flagged off on Monday.
