BHOPAL: A poem Jitna Satauge utna uthungi, jitna dabauge utna ugungi…, recited by poet Pragya Rawat won huge round of applause from the audience at Nutan College on Wednesday.
Her presentation was part of an event Kavyapath (poem recitation), based on women issues. It was organised by National Institute of Women and Child and Youth Development under the aegis of Sarojini Naidu Mahavidyalaya, Bhopal.
Female poets of the city presented their works on women issues. These were Purnta ek swpan hai…, by Sandhya Kulkarni, Ye rasta kahin nahi jata…, by Pratibha. Sunana chahte ho mujhe…, Mohalle ki auratein…, Anchaha samman…, Stri sochti hai…, by Savita Bhargava, Mritushaiya per ek stri ka bayan.., Achhi ladki ke liye jaroori nimbandh…, by Aarti.
Poet Veena Sinha recited a poem which was based on female foeticide. Besides, some young poets like Ghazal Dehariya, Aparna Shukla, Naina Dwivedi, Meera Saroj, Hafa Shakeel, Aaliya Khan and Ritu Sahu also recited their works, appreciated by art lovers.
Ingrid Mendosa, a representative from TDH, South Asia was present as chief guest here. “Nowadays, the fight of women is changing across the world. And they now have equal rights in forest, land and MANREGA. Equal distribution of resources and gender equality are biggest issues in the world and women are fighting with courage,” said Mendosa. In-charge, principal Pratibha Singh presided over the event. Ritu Russia welcomed all poets and Rajeev Bhargava proposed vote of thanks.
