Bhopal: The Cabinet ministers on Sunday presented before Chief Minister a detailed report citing reasons responsible for the Congress’ debacle in the Lok Sabha elections in the state. Nath had convened an informal meeting of his cabinet colleagues at Vallabh Bhawan; a full Cabinet meet is scheduled for Monday. While listing the causes which led to party’s humiliating defeat in the polls, the ministers also hinted at ‘conspiracy’ by government officials in the respective constituencies which helped the BJP candidate to take lead. Unscheduled power cut, fund transfer delay in Bhavantar Yojna, denial of loan waiver to farmers by bank managers, were enumerated as reasons which led to resentment among the voters. Some of the ministers also asked the chief minister to expand the ministry.
Amid fear of horse trading, Nath gave the responsibilities to his minister colleagues to keep a strict eye on the five non-Congress legislators who have extended their support to the government. He asked them to remain in touch with the MLAs. Nath himself will coordinate with the independent MLAs. All the district in charge ministers have been asked to spend two days in a week in their Nath respective areas. The chief minister will also chair cabinet meeting for every district to be held regularly. He asked the ministers to coordinate with the officers and focus on expediting the development works in the state. Nath assured that more power would be given to the district planning committee. After the meeting the youth affairs minister Jitu Patwari, claiming that Congress government was stable and would complete its five-year term, said that his government was ready to face floor test in the Vidhan Sabha.
