Bhopal: Chief Minister Kamal Nath, for the membership of state Assembly, would contest by-polls from Chhindwara. It is almost certain that sitting MLA of Chhindwara Deepak Saxena would vacate the seat for Nath. Saxena has said that he is going to resign from Chhindwara seat and Nath would be contesting elections from the constituency.

There were speculations over Nath contesting by-polls from either Chhindwara or Saunsar assembly constituencies. It was expected that Nath may contest from Saunsar as his residence comes under Saunsar constituency. Nath chose Chhindwara from the point of view of connectivity. He chose Chhindwara keeping in mind that he would not be able to tour his constituency frequently being a Chief Minister. Saxena is known to be quite close to Nath. Nath had selected Saxena as pro-tem speaker in the Assembly also.
