Bhopal: Congress state president Kamal Nath on Thursday dissolved IT and social media cell with immediate effect for its failure to reap desired results. State vice president Prakash Jain said that new cell would be constituted to effectively propagate the party message, government policies and schemes on social media platform.
Ahead of the Assembly elections, the political parties made optimum use of the social media to influence young voters. Congress state cell too tried to make inroads into the voters through social media, however party National IT and Social Media cell found out that many of the office bearers of the state unit had failed to convey the message of the party on social platform.
The party ergo decided to constitute a new cell to infuse new vigour and ensure that its government policies, schemes and messages reach right people to earn desired result. Jain, however, said the cell played a vital role during Assembly elections, but looking at crucial Lok Sabha elections, the party would reconstitute a new cell to infuse new vigour.
In some places the cell members had performed excellently well and so the result came in the party favour, but there were certain pockets where desired results could not come as certain functionaries were not competent enough, he elaborated. A section of old and senior citizens didn’t show their anger on social media or publicly, but they vent it out during voting, said Jain.
But the youngsters were quite vocal in speaking their heart out and it was also very evident in the polling, however, importantly these are the floating voters and they need to be engaged, he stressed. The party is eying youngsters and youths and want its social media team to be competent and capable to gauge the undercurrent and also keep party leaders updated.
