Bhopal: “The newly appointed Congress state president Kalam Nath is a businessman and Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is helping him expand his business,” alleged Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) state coordinator Alok Agarwal while talking to media here on Friday.

The AAP leader claimed that “Leaders of both the Congress and BJP party maintain good business relationships with each other. But, their hidden friendship is giving serious financial jolt to the people of the state.”

He further claimed that Kamal Nath was closely associated with the private limited company MB Power which had set up a power project in Anuppur in 2011.“The company belongs to the sister and brother-in-law of Kamal Nath and Nath is one of the shareholders of the company,” he said.

The AAP leader also alleged that “State government, through an illegal purchase agreement, purchased power at higher rates from the company incurring a financial loss to the tune of whopping Rs 585 crore to the state exchequer.” Demanding that the CM should inform people about the deal, Alok asked “Why did the government sign such agreement which forces it to buy power on higher rates. Why Kamal Nath did not raise the higher rate issue in public and will he at all ask the government to cancel fraudulent purchase agreement?”

He also demanded the state government to slash down electricity rates to half. “If the state government fails to take action, AAP will launch a statewide agitation to press for its demands,” the AAP leader warned.
