Speculations over whether Jyotiraditya Scindia would contest elections from Vidisha, Indore or Gwalior ended on Saturday when Chief Minister Kamal Nath said he (Scindia) would be fielded from Guna from where he had been contesting the Lok Sabha elections for all these years. He made the above announcement at a press conference at the MPCC office in the state capital. So from Nath’s statement, it’s now clear that Scindia would contest elections from Guna.
Scindia’s name was doing the rounds for several seats in the state but he had already launched campaigning in Guna. He further said that, after Digvijaya Singh was fielded from Bhopal, the saffron party had yet to find out a suitable candidate to take on the former chief minister.
He further said that the BJP would hardly cross 160 seats in the Lok Sabha elections and that the Congress was all set to win 23 seats in the state. The BJP will lose seats in every state. He said names of Congress candidates would be declared within four days.
The Chief Minister said that some leaders from other parties were willing to join the Congress and the party would decide who should be taken. “People want to align with the Congress because they are fed up with the present situation prevailing in the country,” Nath said, adding that, the campaign – I’m also a Chowkidar – is nothing but a joke.
The reality is that the BJP has failed on all counts, he said.
