Sonkatch: Ujjain Lokayukta team trapped janpad panchayat CEO Mukesh Jain and secretary Bheem Singh Bamaniya while accepting bribe of Rs 20,000 here in Sonkatch on Wednesday.
Lokayukta special establishment police arrested both Jain and Bamaniya during the meeting of sub-divisional magistrate and secretaries at the district panchayat situated block development office.
Lokayukta inspector Basant Shrivastava informed that on Tuesday employment assistant Hukum Singh Malviya hasd approached Ujjain Lokayukta and lodged his complaint against the duo claiming that Jain and Bamaniya asked for Rs 55,000 as bribe to clear his bill amount under Khet Sadak Yojana.
Shrivastava also handed over mobile recording of same to Lokayukta police. Acting on this, Ujjain team arrested Jain and Bamaniya. After this, on Wednesday Lokayukta team leading inspector Basant Shrivastava laid trap at the district panchayat office and caught Jain and Bhamniya red-handed with bribe money as Jain asked Malviya to pay first installment of Rs 20,000 to him in his office through secretary Bamaniya on Wednesday.
Case has been registered against Jain and Bamaniya under relevant sections of Prevention of Corruption Act. Later they got bail on surety bond of Rs 50,000 each. Panic prevailed here at block resource coordinator office as soon as news spread in the area. Sub-divisional magistrate Neeraj Khare attempted to intervene in the matter as SDM and secretaries were going to the district panchayat office, but inspector Shrivastava asked Khare not to intervene in the matter. Following this, Khare moved out of office.
