BHOPAL: At the Cabinet meeting held here on Wednesday, ACS, Finance objected to a proposal sanctioning Rs 15.68 cr compensation for the residents of six villages in the submergence zone of the Parasdoh medium irrigation scheme in Betul district under a special package. He said if this was done, the project affected persons (PAPs) of other irrigation projects would move court, demanding compensation on a par. This would create problems for the government. ACS Shrivastava insisted that no special package should be given beyond the standard compensation. On this, CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan said, “I have announced a special package and it will have to be given. We will see what happens,” he added. This special package is to be given to the farmers of Nandkudi, Pachdhar, Garvha, Gaula, Kutkhedi and Devdongri villages.

The Cabinet also cleared a proposal for the merger of public grievances department with the public services management department. This will bring down the number of departments in the state government from 55 to 54.

It also cleared a government guarantee of Rs 13,500 cr for the State Civil Supplies Corporation. The corporation would be able to use this for taking credit limits, loans, short term line of credit etc from banks and financial institutions for purchasing wheat, paddy and coarse grains from farmers and for running the PDS. The Cabinet also cleared a proposal to allot three acres to Software Technology Park of India in Indore district for developing state-of-the-art incubation facility on 33 years lease on a lease rent of Rs 100.
