BHOPAL: Balram Singh, key accused in the ISI espionage ring in the state, used the profile pictures of facebook and WhatsApp accounts to get accounts opened in the banks. The bank officials are now under scanner of the Anti-terrorism Squad (ATS). The ATS has interrogated Singh and three other accused and he informed the officials that he used to take out the photographs from the facebook and WhatsApp and preparers the fake documents to opened the bank account. He used to get money transferred in these accounts from Dubai and Nepal.
He misused the technology and prepared the hard copy of the photographs submitting them with other fake documents for the bank accounts. The ATS suspects collusion of the bank officials because many formalities have to done with the applicants appearing in person in bank to get the account opened. However, these accounts were opened without any personal verification.
The bank officials also ignored the submitted documents like use of PAN card, Adhar card, ration card and others. He also told the officials about manipulating the mark sheet and other documents. The ATS is preparing the list of bank accounts used by Balram and his associates to get money transferred from his Pakistan based handlers. The ATS busted the ISI espionage case on February 9, and arrested 11 accused. Seven alleged agents are in Bhopal central jail and four of them are being grilled in police remand. These 11 accused were allegedly involved in sending confidential information about the army and security agencies to Pakistan in exchange of huge amount of money.
