UMARIA: An FIR was lodged against the sarpanch, panch, panchayat secretary and a vendor Hariom Traders for committing irregularities in the allotment of houses to Baiga tribals under the PM Housing Scheme. The FIR was registered following an enquiry ordered by the collector Abhishek Singh.

Houses for 56 Baiga families are to be built in Mahroi village of Karkeli Janpad of the district. The first installment of Rs 40,000 was credited to the accounts of all the beneficiaries. When this became known to the Sarpanch and the Panchayat secretary, they gave the contract for supplying construction material to Hariom Traders.

The husband of the Panchayat secretary, the sarpanch and one of the panchas obtained signatures of the beneficiaries on bank withdrawal forms on the pretext that building material would be provided to them. The amount was withdrawn but they were given just 2 quintal iron, 4 bags of cement and 2000 bricks each.
