BHOPAL : The Metro project for Bhopal and Indore would cost Rs 50,000 crore. An expenditure of Rs 15,000 crore is expected in the first phase and the work will begin soon.
Metro consultant Rohit Associates on Tuesday submitted detailed project report (DPR). Changes have been made in the Metro project for Indore. With the DPR prepared, the first phase of work would begin. Rs 6962 crore would be spent for metro in Bhopal and Rs 7522 crore would be spent for metro in Indore in the first phase. A sum of Rs 12,000 crore has been taken as loan from JICA for the works in the first phase. Rs 3000 crore has been sought from the Centre. Preparations are on to finish the first phase of the project by 2018.
Metro in Bhopal would be laid in two-line track extending to 90 kilometres. Metro Rail Company Limited, Managing Director, Vivek Agarwal said final report of DPR has come. According to Agarwal, preparations to start work of first phase will be made soon.
