BHOPAL: Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said, “Illegal colonies will soon be legalised in the state. The government’s intention is to ensure housing for all, especially people of the weaker section.” He was speaking on Housing Guarantee Scheme tabled by UAD minister Maya Singh in House on Friday.
The CM said, “Each and every one has right to have his own house. And the government will fulfill their dream. Housing, better education, medical treatment— all these things will be provided for the common man in society.”
“In urban areas, there is land crisis, so the government has decided to provide flats to families of weaker sections of society,” the CM said, adding, “People will be landlords and will have ownership rights. And they will live in a dignified way in society and it is our main objective.”
UAD minister Maya Singh said, “There was limit of Rs 60,000 and it continued for 15 years in Indira Awas Yojana but in my housing scheme, there is provision of Rs 1.5 lakh for the family.” Congress MLAs raised the questions that will Housing Guarantee Scheme override other housing schemes like Indira Awas Yojana, Rajiv Gandhi Housing Scheme, JNNURM Housing Scheme or it will be implemented parallel to all previous schemes?
Congress MLA Kamleshwar Patel said, “The state government used to furnish lame excuses that due to land crisis Indira Awas Yojana, Rajiv Gandhi Housing Scheme, JNNURM Housing Scheme could not be materialised and now how will the government manage it for its own scheme?”
Deputy chairman of state planning commission and BJP MLA Chetan Kashyap welcomed the MP Housing Guarantee Scheme. Kashyap said, “It is a visionary step of CM Chouhan as everyone has right to have own house.” Congress MLA Mahendra Kalukheda raised the issue of legalisation of illegal colonies.
