Bhopal: Honorarium of pujaris increased threefold

Bhopal: State government has increased the honorarium of pujaris by three times. Minister for Dharmasava (religious affairs) PC Sharma said on Friday that pujaris of temples registered and regulated by government will get threefold honorarium from January 1, 2019.

Minister Sharma said that pujaris of temples that have no land were getting Rs 1000 per month; they will get Rs 3000 per month from now onwards. Similarly, pujaris of temples with 5 acre land will now get Rs 2100 instead of Rs 700 and priests of temple with 10 acre land will get Rs 1560. More than 21000 temples are registered with the state government.

State government has decided to constitute a trust for rivers of religious importance not only to conserve them but also to save them from pollution and illegal mining said Sharma. The proposal for it has been sent for approval, he added. Rivers of religious importance include Narmada, Tapti, Kshipra and Mandakini. Sharma said that all these promises were mentioned in Congress’ Vachan Patra and have been fulfilled in record time. 3500 elderly will be taken to Kumbh and will be taken care of by the state government, he added.

Development & renovation

Giving details of newly formed Dharmasva department, Sharma said that a tourist guest house has been approved at Ramraja temple in Orchha, Chitrakoot and Nalkheda temple in Agar Malwa. Other achievements of the department include renovation of Panchmukhi temple at Bajrangarh.
