Bhopal: Hearing impaired will no longer be deprived of government jobs

GAD has written to all departments to conduct ‘Brainstem Evoked Response Audiometry (Bera)’ test

BHOPAL: The hearing impaired will not be deprived from government service. General administration department (GAD) has written to all departments to conduct ‘Brainstem Evoked Response Audiometry (Bera)’ test under medical examination, before appointment of hearing impaired in government service. These directives will be applicable also in all corporations, boards, public undertakings, commissions, universities, autonomous bodies and government aided bodies.

The letter has been issued in compliance of the recommendations of Madhya Pradesh Human Rights Commission (MPHRC).

 One applicant named Badri Prasad had submitted an application in the Commission stating that visually impaired, handicapped and hearing impaired are deprived from the benefit of government services on the basis of their physical disability.

Citing the incident in Seoni district, the applicant claimed that there was no arrangement of BERA test during recruitment made for animal husbandry department and irregularities were committed.
