Bhopal: Gwalior with 4.2 degree Celsius temperature was the third among top 10 coldest cities of the country on Sunday. Pachmarhi recorded 6 degree Celsius temperature, however, there was little respite for people in Bhopal and Indore. Chill continued to sweep the state with the minimum temperature at several places plunging below normal, weather officials said.
Gwalior recorded a maximum temperature of 26.1 degree Celsius, 1 degree Celsius above normal. It recorded a minimum temperature of 4.2 degree Celsius which was 3 degree below normal. However, there was little respite for the people in state capital as temperature soared nominally on the day. Bhopal recorded a maximum temperature of 23.6 degree Celsius which was 2 degree Celsius below normal while the minimum temperature was 12.8 degree Celsius, 2 degree Celsius above normal. On Saturday, Bhopal had recorded 21.8 degree Celsius which was 4 degree below normal. Indore recorded a maximum temperature of 24.6 degree Celsius which was 2 degree above normal while it recorded a minimum temperature of 13.4 degree Celsius which was 2 degree above normal.
According to Meteorological department, chilly winds from north have now started blowing across the eastern and central parts of the country. As a result, both the maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to drop significantly in Madhya Pradesh. So far, anti-cyclonic circulation which was over East Madhya Pradesh and adjoining North Chhattisgarh, had been restricting the flow of chilly northwesterly winds from snow clad Himalayas to the region. But now it has shifted, so chill wind has started blowing central parts of the country.
