Bhopal: Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Sunday said that government would not allow sell of farmers’ yields at lower prices. Addressing a ‘kisan sammelan’ at Baraseoni Tehsil in Balaghat Chouhan said that “Sale of crops at lower prices will not be allowed in the state and in case farmers get less prices of their produce than the ones declared by the state, the government would provide relief to them.”
On the occasion, Chouhan also transferred incentive money of Rs 57 crore to the bank accounts of 72,000 farmers under ‘Mukhyamantri Krishak Samridhi Yojana’ and inaugurated development works to the tune of Rs 419 crore.
The CM further said the state government by transferring Rs 57 crore, proved that such a big sum of money could also be given as incentive. He informed that the farmers, who sold wheat and paddy at minimum support price (MSP) last year, were being given Rs 1700 crore as incentive and for selling wheat at MSP this year, the farmers will be given incentives at the rate of Rs 265 per quintal.
He said the government had sanctioned Rs 17 crore to compensate the damage caused to crops in Balaghat because of natural calamity and the money was deposited in the farmers’ accounts. “The government would release 1 lakh jobs next month and there would be reservation for women in jobs including those in the police department,” the CM assured.
Earlier, Chouhan was felicitated by farmers in the programme. Minister for farmers’ welfare and agriculture development ,Gaurishankar Bisen, district panchayat president Rekha Bisen, MP Bodhsingh Bhagat, MLA KD Deshmukh and Dr Yogendra Nirmal were present on the occasion.
