Bhopal: A 19-year-old girl, who is preparing for competitive examinations in Bhopal, was allegedly raped by her landlord on Saturday evening. According to SHO Ashoka Garden Suneel Shrivastava the girl, her elder sister and younger brother lives on rent in the accused Harishankar Malviya’s home.
He said the siblings are preparing for competitive exams in a coaching institute. In her complaint she stated to the police that accused Harishankar works as a peon in a nationalised bank and she along with her sister and brother live at the first floor of the two storey building.
On Friday accused’s wife and children had gone out of city to attend a marriage ceremony of their relative and accused Harishankar was alone at the home. The accused asked the girl to prepare dinner for him as his wife is not present at home. Girl’s elder sister who works at a private firm had gone to office at that time whereas her brother had gone to their native place to meet their parents.
At around 8 pm when the girl went to her landlord’s kitchen for preparing food, the accused knowingly switched off lights of kitchen twice and thrice and after which she returned to her room but accused also followed her and went inside her room where after locking the door, he outraged her modesty threatening her for life and also warned her not to reveal it to anyone.
However later in the night, she narrated her ordeal to her elder sister after which they reached Ashoka Garden police station and reported the incident and responding to her complaint, a case under sections 376 and 506 of the IPC has been registered against the accused who is on the run, said Shrivastava.
