BHOPAL: The multi layer Vyapam scam could have been exposed a long time back if the state government had sanctioned permission to the Economic Offence Wing (EOW) to register case against ex-principal system analyst Nitin Mahindra and ex-senior system analyst Ajay Kumar Sen. The EOW has sought permission to book the duo in a case of irregularities, but the government did not sanction the permission and the duo were later found to be among the top accused of the Vyapam scam.
Professional Examination Board (PEB) director Bhaskar Lakshakar informed The Free Press Journal that the in the year 2003, a complaint was filed with the EOW against the duo in a case of computer procurement irregularities. The EOW approached the government for permission to register the case against them. But the Vyapam remained tight-lipped on the issue and after the good long span of 11 years, the Vyapam scam was busted.
The duo formed the nexus and involved in the anti-department activities. Because of government’s negligence and department’s tacit support, the irregularities hollowed the system from inside.
This way there was no authority to control over the system. The government provided permission in 2014 to register the case against Mahindra and Sen, a year after the Vyapam scam was exposed in 2013.
