BHOPAL: With the voting for the Bhopal parliamentary seat over, the leaders of BJP and Congress on Monday got busy with making assessment and estimations. After the booth-wise analysis of polling, the leaders of the two parties are making claims of victory. Congress is taking bumper polling on Berasia and Sehore as a positive signal in its favour. BJP is expecting a big lead from Govindpura and Huzur assembly areas. As far as polling percentage is concerned, Sehore witnessed 77 per cent polling while Berasia registered 76 per cent voting. BJP leaders are concerned over high polling percentage. It was first time when the polling percentage has been so high.
Digvijaya Singh had worked hard in Berasia and Sehore areas. His son and minister for urban administration Jaivardhan Singh too devoted a lot of time in these areas. The confidants of Singh maintain that the high polling percentage would benefit Congress. A part of Berasia comes under Rajgarh Lok Sabha seat. The followers of Singh maintain that he would also get support from this area. Former MLA of BJP, Ramesh Saxena in Sehore had joined Congress. Sunny Mahajan, who turned rebel and contested as independent, is supporting Singh. With Saxena and Mahajan, supporting Congress, the chances of Congress have gone up. Although, RSS has also worked hard for voting in this area.
Congress is concerned over Govindpura and Huzur assembly areas. Both these areas registered around 60 per cent voting and they are known to be stronghold of BJP. Congress tried to sneak into Bairagarh, which is a Sindhi-majority area under Huzur seat, but Singh is not sure about the response of voters from this area. Congress lost elections in these areas despite its exceptional performance in assembly polls. Congress is also expecting lead of votes in Bhopal North, Central and South-West but their claim over Narela does not hold strong. BJP too is claiming good lead of votes in Bhopal central and south-west. BJP had lost these seats during assembly polls.
