Amidst the exercise of ticket finalization for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, Bollywood actor Govinda called on Chief Minister Kamal Nath, here on Friday. The meeting has triggered the speculations that the star might be fielded from Indore Lok Sabha seat.
The former MP, however, claimed it was a personal meeting and had no political implications. “It was a courtesy call, I was here to congratulate Nath on his becoming the chief minister of the state,” claimed the actor later talking to media. “I had worked with him earlier… It was a personal meeting,” said the former Congress leader.
On being asked if he would contest from MP or join the party election campaign, the actor answered in negative. Speculations are rife that Congress, which is looking for a strong candidate from Indore -a BJP bastion, may consider Govinda for the constituency.
In 2004, Govinda was elected as a member of parliament on the Congress ticket from Mumbai North constituency, defeating Ram Naik of BJP. Interestingly, the actor also shared a good rapport with former chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and had joined his Narmada Yatra. The actor then had also suggested Chouhan to set up a film city in the state. Taking his suggestion, the then CM had even asked the officials to look for land for the film city.
