BHOPAL: The state government will now be imparting training to women in male-dominated trades. Department of skill development is going to launch ‘Kaushalya Yojana’, which aims at training 2 lakh women a year.
The training will fulfill the norms of national skill development framework, so that the women undergoing training are able to get employment at national level. A project examining committee, headed by chief secretary, approved the said scheme, here on Tuesday.
The women would be trained in driving, construction, home furnishings, capital goods, domestic worker, electronics and hardware, food processing, healthcare, security, telecom, tourism and hospitality, banking and financial services.
The training would be given by NIFT, CRISP and ITI along with engineering and polytechnic colleges.
In the meeting of project examining committee, ‘Mukhyamantri Kaushal Samvardhan Yojana’ was also given approval. The scheme aims at imparting training to 2.5 lakh people. They would be trained in traditional as well as new trades. Residential training would be given in Naxal-affected areas. The government would be spending Rs 500 crore for training programme and the trainees will not be required to pay any fees. The government hopes that it will get Rs 50 crore from Pradhanmantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana.
Funds would also be drawn from panchayat and rural development department, urban administration, SC & ST department and others. Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan may soon launch the scheme.
