Bhopal: Government to constitute MP Tourism Board

BHOPAL: In the tourism cabinet held at Pachmarhi on Tuesday, it was decided to constitute Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board. Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board, will be under Tourism Department as a separate entity and will be constituted as a non-profit company under Companies Act.

The main functions of the Board will be to shoulder all responsibilities related to tourism policy-2016, attract private investment in tourism sector, investors felicitation, providing grant and facilities to investors as per policy, planning new policy to attract investors, implementation and monitoring, to increase land bank by selecting proper place, making of action plan regarding development  and conservation of historical places, wildlife sanctuaries, caves, parks, water bodies and other entertaining places, to encourage private investors and also to promote local cuisines, culture, clothing, handicrafts and thereby promoting rural tourism and also to establish necessary arrangements for eco-tourism.

Activities related to tourism promotion unit, planning, training, eco-tourism and adventure, creative and publicity activities, marketing, Mela and festivals and information technology will be conducted by Madhya Pradesh Tourism Board.

10,000 km rural roads to be asphalted

The state cabinet, chaired by chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, at its meeting at Pachmarhi on Tuesday, approved asphaltation of 10,000 kilometre road length under Mukhyamantri Gramin Sadak Yojana. The cabinet also gave its approval to Madhya Pradesh Rural Connectivity Project for 510 kilometre new road construction from the aid of Rs 505 million dollars from the World Bank and Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank.

The project would be implemented by Madhya Pradesh Rural Road Development Corporation in a period of two years. The meeting approved four irrigation projects in 18,360 hectare of land. Madhya Pradesh Rural Connectivity Project was also approved for providing better approach road to rural population to the market, health centres, education centres and industrial areas.

Not everything can be included in Governor’s address: CM

When the Governor’s address to the Assembly came up for approval at the Cabinet meeting, minister Jaibhan Singh Pavaiya said that the achievements of his departments were not even mentioned in the address. Some other ministers too joined him. The chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan told them that the length of Governor’s address was limited and not everything could be included in it.
