Bhopal: Government regards eight SIMI activists slain in encounter as undertrials

BHOPAL: The eight SIMI activists, alleged to be ‘terrorist’, who were gunned down in an encounter, were mentioned as ‘undertrial’ in the government’s reply made in the state assembly on Wednesday. The SIMI activists absconded from Bhopal Central Jail after killing one head constable on October 31 and were killed in the encounter at Mankikhera village in the morning.  Former chief minister Babulal Gour and Congress MLAs Bala Bacchan, Jeetu Patwari, Ramniwas Rawat, Arif Aqeel and Dr Govind Singh had asked the government to reply their questions regarding the encounter and the jailbreak of the eight SIMI activists.

Jail minister Kusum Mehdele submitted her reply in the assembly that the eight SIMI activists were the under trial.

The security audit is being done by the Central Industrial Security Force, of all 11 central jails of the state. It is also informed that till date no reward has been given to any of the informers of the case.

According to the Supreme Court guideline the case is being probed by  CID. The government has established the one-member judicial panel chaired by SK Pandey, to submit the detailed report of jailbreak and encounter in three months.
