Bhopal: Government okays pension scheme for spinsters

Continuing with its generosity ahead of the assembly elections, the government on Monday decided to provide financial assistance upto Rs 500 to unmarried women who have crossed the age of 50. Under Mukhya Mantri Avivahit Yojna, the Cabinet on Monday approved monthly pension of Rs 300 to unmarried women between the ages of 50 and 79 while those above 80 years of age would be entitled to get Rs 500 as pension.

Besides, the Cabinet, headed by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, also cleared a number of other proposals including improving the infrastructure and facilities in temples across the state as well as looking after the welfare of priests here. A proposal for metro projects in Indore and Bhopal too was given the green signal. The Cabinet also gave its nod for accepting 500 million euros for the Bhopal metro rail project as approved by the European Investment Bank. The Cabinet also decided to provide free training to talented students preparing for UPSC examinations.

As many as 100 students are likely to benefit from this. The students will be selected as per the prescribed criteria and will be sent to coaching institutes in Delhi for UPSC preparation. The Cabinet gave in-principle approval of over Rs 49.10 crore for construction of separate rooms and toilets for women police personnel and women officers in 676 locations in the state. Approval of 129 posts for Project Management Unit and 274 posts of Project Implementation Unions was also given at the meeting.

The Cabinet also okayed the introduction of CPS Diploma Courses in the state’s medical colleges. The 16.413 hectares of land of selected area of MOG Lines, Indore will be included under Smart City Project. It also approved the constitution of a welfare fund for the benefit of the priests. Under the directorate of skill development, the Cabinet decided to keep the ITI building construction plan from NABARD loan up to 2017-18 to 2018-19.
