Bhopal: Two shocking robberies in the city brought the action of police under scanner on Thursday. The incidents were reported in Habibganj and Nazeerabad police station areas. The first incident was reported in Arera Colony area where unidentified accused snatched the gold chain from a 74-year-old woman while she was returning home walking from a temple. While in Nazeerabad police station area three bike-borne miscreants armed with a revolver robbed the bike and cash from a farmer while he was returning home with his friend.
TI Habibganj Ravindra Yadav said complainant Pramila Shrivastava, 74, wife of SM Shrivastava, of Chitragupt Society in her complaint stated that she retired from the post of principal from a government school. She had gone to nearby Hanuman temple around 8 pm. While she was returning home around 9 pm an unidentified accused following her from the temple came from behind and fled after snatching her gold chain. She though screamed for help but he disappeared taking advantage of darkness. She said the gold chain was weighing around 20 gms and worth more than Rs 50,000.
In the second incident complainant farmer Purshottam Dubey, 60, of Khatakhedi in Nazeerabad in his complaint stated that he had gone to Banskheri along with his friend Srijan Singh, 40, on Thursday evening. The incident took place while the two were returning home on bike. Three unidentified bike-borne masked men carrying sticks in their hand waylaid them near Surajpura. They asked them to surrender their belongings to which he complied out of fear. He had Rs 700 in his wallet while Srijan had Rs 400. Subsequently they fled. They returned home and lodged a complaint with Nazeerabad police. Police registered a case on charges of loot and launched a manhunt to nab the accused.
