BHOPAL: Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, in a meeting with IPS officers of 2013-14 batch here at Mantralaya, said service in police department is not a profession but a mission. The policemen have the important responsibility of keeping the country, the people and their property safe. He said the maintenance of law and order should be always given top priority. Chouhan said law-abiding citizens should be treated with courtesy while criminals should be dealt with an iron hand.
Director general of police Rishi Kumar Shukla, ADGP, Rajiv Tandon and OSD to CM Adarsh Katiyar were present.
Chouhan said state police has a rich past and it has successfully dealt with many challenges. There is no dacoit gang in the state and Naxalism is fully under control. SIMI network has been shattered.
Chouhan said police should have live communication with people and people’s representatives. Attempts should to be made to get accused in cases of atrocities against women punished as soon as possible. Policemen should remain alert to allurements from anti-social elements.
Chief minister said it is necessary for Police to be visible in field and act swiftly, as criminals should have fear of it and people should feel safe in their presence. Dial 100 has done good work in this direction. Chouhan asked to launch campaign against goons, gamblers and mafia. Chief minister urged police officers to leave a lasting impression on people of their good works.
