BHOPAL: The staffers of Gandhi Medical College and Hamidia Hospital protested the working of the hospital superintendent on Monday. The management claimed they were pressuring the hospital administration.
There were ruckuses in Hamidia and GMC when the workers quit work and left the patients running from pillar to post to get medical assistance. The registration work was stopped, the pharmacists stopped providing medicines and the staff nurses refused to provide help to the patients. ANMs, staff nurses, pharmacists and others demonstrated against hospital superintendent Deepak Maravi.
The staff alleged the HS always created problems for the staff and also for patients admitted at the hospitals. The female staffers were harassed every day by the HS, they claimed. The staffers raised slogans against the HS at the gate of the hospital, demanding his removal and delegating the responsibility to good hands. President of State Pharmacists’ Association Rajan Nair said the HS intentionally created problems for the workers. He kept files with him for unnecessary reason for long and tried to harass the workers.
The workers also met GMC dean Dr MC Songara and demanded to remove the HS. The dean informed the workers that to remove the HS was government’s decision and his work was to only forward the letter. While talking to media persons he also said the workers were putting pressure on the administration. If the officer wanted to streamline the working of the hospital some people did not like that.
