Bhopal: Awadhpuri police claimed to have solved a case of chain snatching which took place on December 29. Police have held a schoolgirl and four other persons including a goldsmith for the crime. Police said the girl belongs to a well to do family. Police claimed that she committed the crime allegedly repay the cost as she had lost a smart phone which she had borrowed from her friend.
Cops claimed that it was probably first time in history of Bhopal that a girl has been found to be part of chain snatching gang. Beside their arrest, the cops also claimed to have seized the two-wheeler used in incident. The buyer of stolen chain too has been arrested.
ASP Dinesh Kaushal said the accused have been identified as 19-year-old Satyam alias Bhayyu, a resident of Bijlee colony, 19-year-old Muskan, a resident of Avinash Nagar, 20-year-old Sonu alias Abhishek, a resident of Rishipuram and 46-year-old Ratanlal, a resident of Bawadia kalan. Ratanlal has been booked on charges of buying the stolen goods.
Cops said all three accused have confessed their involvement and have handed over the robbed chain. Their arrest was made after cops get a tip-off about the accused from an informer.
According to police, the incident took place in Tagore Nagar area of the Awadhpuri locality on December 29. Sub-inspector RP Bharti said the woman victim 45-year-old Sharada had come to her home with her 26-year-old daughter few days before the incident.
Sharda had gone to her sister-in-law’s house on Saturday afternoon in the same colony and they both were on the way back at around 4:30 pm and near her home, a girl on a two-wheeler with two more male accomplices targeted her. Sharda’a chain was snatched swiftly and before she could react, the miscreants had fled.
The victim had said that the girl who snatched chain had her face covered with a mask. Sharda told police that all the three had covered their faces. A case was registered in Awadhpuri police station after Sharda reached home and informed her husband.
