Bhopal: Data segregation should be done in terms of gender. This helps in providing the right figures for proper planning and policy decisions to promote gender equality. Gender budgeting is must for women empowerment, said women and child development principal secretary JN Kansotia during his address at the daylong gender responsive budgeting workshop in collaboration with UN Women, on Friday.

Kansotia said that gender responsive budgeting is a strong means of bringing women into the mainstream of development. Data segregation gives details on the number of provisions and facilities being given to girls or women in the schemes being run by various departments.

Dharmishtha of UN Women in her presentation said that according to a recent survey much more work has to be done in the direction of women empowerment. Officials of women and child development department, forest, tribal welfare and school education department were also present on the occasion.
