Accompanied by ex-CM Gaur & ex-mayor, UAD minister Maya Singh declares…

BHOPAL: Dumping of Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) at Bhanpur trench will be stopped within next six months and shifted to Chhawani Adampur within next five to six years.

UAD minister Maya Singh made the announcement after visiting Bhanpur trench on Friday. The visit came soon after former chief minister Babulal Gaur raised the issue of Bhanpur trench in the Vidhan Sabha.

Former CM Babulal Gaur, former mayor Krishna Gaur, BMC commissioner Chhavi Bharadwaj and others also accompanied the minister.

Earlier, former chief minister Babulal Gaur and UAD minister Maya Singh visited Bhanpur trench to take stock of residents’ health. Gaur had raised the issue of Bhanpur garbage dumping ground’s hazardous impact on the health of city residents.

Speaking in the Vidhan Sabha, the former CM had said that 93% of the people residing in the close vicinity of the dumping ground were facing health problems. He further said that the State Human Rights Commission has already ordered to shift the dumping site. However, the government was yet to announce a schedule for the shifting, he added.

Expressing concern over the health of nearly 12 lakh residents of Bhanpur, Gaur wanted to know as to when and where the site would be shifted.

He also inquired about any study undertaken to assess the health damage being caused by the site. However, there was no response from the government. “No one knows what is happening,” the ex-CM had said.

Former mayor Krishna Gaur said, “UAD minister Maya Singh went to Bhanpur trench and said that dumping of MSW will be stopped within six month and in next five to six years treated garbage will be shifted to Adampur. We will ensure it is completed at the earliest.”
