Bhopal: Fuel prices continued its upward swing on Thursday as for the second consecutive day, petrol was sold over Rs 86 per litter in Dindori. Petrol rate had spiralled to Rs 86.04 per litre on Wednesday in the district, while the very next day it rose to Rs 86.35.

The state capital is witnessing protests as the petrol price has skyrocketed to Rs 83.08 per litre. The continuous hike in the fuel prices has adversely affected the monthly budget of common people. Central Government is expected to take some decision on the fuel prices by weekend or anytime next week.

However, petrol pump dealers opined that even if Central government takes decision in public favour, the real beneficiaries would be Oil companies as government will have to pay them to check the price rise. Holding dynamic fuel pricing reason for the rising price of the fuel, the dealers opened that government should take steps to control the new mechanism or bring changes in its implementation.

Madhya Pradesh petrol pump dealers Association Ajay Singh said Central government is expected to take some decision on May 28 or after it. But till then, people will have to face brunt of rising fuel prices. Main problem is the dynamic fuel pricing mechanism, under which the petrol and diesel rates are revised on a daily basis in accordance with the global crude oil price and the rate of currency conversion, said Singh. There is need to bring change in the new introduced system, he added.
