Bhopal: From stretcher, he bids adieu to wife and daughter

Kanpur tragedy casts its shadow on city; four cremated

 BHOPAL: The bodies of those from the city, who were killed in the tragic train mishap near Kanpur on Sunday, started reaching Bhopal from early Monday morning. The families of the deceased passengers bid adieu to loved ones with teary eyes. On Monday, four bodies were brought to Bhopal. They included Rajesh Singh, 45, deputy director RKDF University, Geeta Singh, 50 and her daughter Ragini Singh, 26 and Triyanshu Sharma, 6.

Satendra Singh lost his wife, Geeta and daughter, Ragini in the accident. He has himself suffered three fractures and could not even stand to perform the last rites of his family. Birendra Singh, relative of Satendra, said, “Satendra was trying to get up from stretcher to see his daughter and wife for the last time but he couldn’t and he collapsed howling on the stretcher. He could not even cry because he was also in severe pain.”

Eleven-year-old Triyanshu Sharma was missing after the accident. Father Arun Sharma, mother Nupoor Sharma and elder brother Divyanshu also suffered severe injuries in the accident, kept looking for Triyanshu on Sunday. He was found late in the evening and died during treatment in the hospital. Father of Arun Sharma, D C Sharma, when contacted could not speak and a relative informed that he is in shock. The child was brought to Bhopal in the evening was buried. The family is still worried because Triyanshu’s mother, Nupoor is critical and is getting treatment in Lala Lajpat Rai Hospital in Kanpur.

Body of Jitesh Maurya, whose death was reported first, was taken by his parents to Patna. Jitesh was working in Bhopal after completing his studies. His roommate Mahesh informed that he was the only son of his parents. “We have not spoken to his parents after they took the body to Patna. It is very difficult for us to talk to them. We will go to Patna in a week”.

Sanjay Singh, whose wife Kusum Singh is getting treatment in Vedanta Kanpur, said that after the accident immediately left for Kanpur. “I did not rely on the information of the railway. After reaching there, I found that Kusum was shifted to Vedanta because she suffered fracture on neck bone and was very critical. I was very afraid to see so much chaos in the hospital”, he said.
