Bhopal: Frisk all VIPs at airport says Election Commission

BHOPAL: Election Commission has issued instructions for frisking of all VIPs (Very Important Person) at airport.  It has directed that even the persons travelling on private charter planes and helicopters should be frisked in and out of airport.  Frisking will be done by CISF (Central Industrial Security Force) staff members or police officials from state and centre. No relaxation in norms will be given to anyone, said EC official.

Returning officers have directed the airport officials update them daily of number of private planes and choppers landing in their constituencies.  EC has also asked the airport officials to conduct thorough checking of all private airplanes and choppers.  Authorities have been directed to keep an eye on cash, arms and ammunition, prohibited items and valuable things including gold, diamond and jewellery.

ATC (Air Traffic Control) authorities have been instructed to inform returning officers about schedule of private planes at least half an hour ahead of the programme. ATC will also provide a daily update to the returning officers. If valuables or cash above Rs 10 lakh are seized by the authorities then income tax officials will take over the case.
All checking and or seizure will be done under surveillance of CCTV cameras.
