BHOPAL: Removal of four vice chancellors within eight months of new regime has triggered panic in other universities. Latest is the case of Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya, Indore where VC Narendra Kumar Dhakad was removed after imposition of section 52 by the state government.
Earlier, VC of Vikram University, Ujjain SS Pandey was removed unceremoniously. VCs of Bhoj Open University and Barkatullah University too were removed after various allegations.
VC of Chhatrasal Bundelkhand University Priyavrat Shukla and VC of Makhanlal Chaturvedi National University of Mass Communication resigned after they got message from higher ups.
This has led to slow down of work by other VCs. Most important among it is recruitment of faculty that would enable them to avail World Bank funds and improve their ranking in NAAC accreditation.
Sources say that DAVV may not get in-charge VC before June 28, as Governor is out of Bhopal.
State government had sent panel consisting of three names to Governors’ officethe for appointment of incharge VC on Monday afternoon. According to MP Vishwavidyalya Adhiniyam 1973 incharge VC should be appointed immediately, at least for a period of one year, as the post of VC should not be left vacant.
This is not for the first case as earlier, in appointment of VC of Vikram University too, Raj Bhawan had appointed Balkrishna Sharma- whose name did not figure in the panel sent by the state government.
The decision was challenged by retired principal Shankar Garg in Indore bench of Madhya Pradesh High Court that had sought reply from the Raj Bhawan. Sources say that it has been over two months but it hasn’t filed the reply.
An official requesting anonymity said that it cannot be denied that VCs of some universities were throwing all rules to wind and were engaged in corrupt practises besides not listening to anyone authority.
