Bhopal: Foundation stone for Rs 645-cr Global Skills Park laid

Bhopal: “We don’t want ‘shop type’ ITI institutes in the state. We want institutes that are willing to adopt new and innovative courses and only such institutes will be permitted to run ITI courses,” said chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan after laying the foundation stone for Global Skill Park here on Monday.

On the occasion, Union skill development and entrepreneur minister Rajiv Pratap Rudy, Consulate General of the Republic of Singapore Ajit Singh, Bruce Poh of ITES and many other officers were also present.

The state government will establish the Global Skill Park (GSP) with the help of Singapore government in Bhopal.

The park will be developed on 37-acre land at Narela Shankri in Govindpura Industrial area with Rs 645 crore Wold Bank aid.

The chief minister said that the Global Skills Park is one of his dream projects. He expressed gratitude to Singapore-based Institute of Technical Education (ITE) for its assistance in developing the project.

Visits to Singapore have inspired me to do something new. During my first visit I was impressed by the Sentosa, Chouhan said.

“After seeing Sentosa I planned to develop Hanumantiya Tapu in the state as a tourist centre on the same lines as tourism would create new employment opportunities,” he said.

The second visit motivated him to establish Skills Park after seeing the Global Skills Centre at Singapore, the CM added.

Chouhan said that the Global Skills Park will be developed with latest technologies and facilities of international standard. The park will produce skilled talents and youth of the state will get more employment opportunities.

Union skill development and entrepreneur minister Rajiv Pratap Rudy expressed his concern over unemployment and the pain of job seekers. However, an ITI trained person will not run for the job, he will get job at his doorstep or he can established his own venture.

Consulate General of the Republic of Singapore Ajit Singh said that he is greatly impressed with the determination of the chief minister towards development.

Bruce Poh of ITES said that an effective initiative has been taken to end unemployment in the state. The entire state is witnessing the government’s efforts to find solutions of the unemployment problem.

Minister of state skill development Deepak Joshi informed that the chief minister has given the responsibility to start the course from current academic session.

CM sets time limit

The CM has set August 15, 2018 as deadline for the development of the GSP by and has instructed the MoS Deepak Joshi and chief secretary BP Singh to meet the time limit.

Union minister Rudy informed that prime minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Park. Three years will take for the complete development of the park. However, the GSP will be partially ready and courses will begin by August 15, 2018.
