Resentment is brewing in state government employees over delay in DA distribution in festival season. Dearness Allowance (DA) has not been distributed to 7 lakh state employees in festival season reportedly because of imposition of Model Code of Conduct (MCC) in connection of assembly polls in Madhya Pradesh.

Employees association has condemned the government for ignoring the interest of the employees.  Ashok Sharma, Rajyapatrit Karamchari-Adhikari Sangh state president, said, “Government wastes crores of rupees over useless things but employees interest is not considered. It is pathetic situation. It is normal process and thing like DA should be automatically given to employees. It has nothing to do with assembly polls. It is festival time, so government is supposed to distribute it after consulting Election Commission.”

He said that previously, government used to distribute after consulting elections commission. Nearly 4 per cent DA has to be distributed to state employees and pensioners. Swasth Karamchari Sangh general secretary Laxmi Narayan Sharma, said, “If government takes the plea that Model Code Of Conduct for delay in DA, it is baseless as previously also we have noticed that after consultation with Election commission, DA has been distributed. So this time also, government can do on festival season. If employees get DA in festival seasons, it will be utilised.”

MP Pensioners Association’s office bearer Ganesh Dutt Joshi said, “Four percent DA due for employees as well as pensioners. Government should immediately distribute it. It is festival seasons and government should consult CEO election commission and finance department and release it. For government, employees and pensioners are last priority and it is pathetic condition.”
