Bhopal: Railway has fixed Rs 30 per passenger for battery operated cars introduced for movement of passengers in circulating area of Railway station. Railway administration has justified the high fare stating that it will help the passengers even from one side to other side of the platform (from one to six) over FOBs.
Passengers, however, opposed the inflated fare. Earlier, it was introduced in Trichy, where passengers raised the voice on high fare of battery cars where Railway started charging Rs 30 per passenger. DRM Shobhan Chaudhary said, “It will not only helpful for passengers within the same side of platform but it will also take them and their luggage to other side of platform through FOB (Foot Over Bridge) from platform no-1 to platform no-6, so fare is justified. It is helpful for disabled and senior citizens in the circulating areas in Railway station.”
