Bhopal: The arrangement of supply of nutritious food, run by the companies, would continue by June. The state government has entrusted National Rural Livelihood Mission the work of setting up plants through self-help groups for the supply of nutritious food. The supply of nutritious food would start from the first plant situated at Dhar from Friday. It would take five more months for the setting up of these plants in a phased manner. The government has spent Rs 100 crore in the setting up of these plants.
Department of woman and child development (WCD) has decided to extend the duration of existing arrangement of nutritious food. It would be put up in next cabinet meeting for its approval. The department has dropped 9 districts for the work of nutritious food. The companies would be supplying nutritious food in 37 districts. Nutritious food is supplied in five districts including Bhopal from MP Agro plant.
Principal secretary, woman and child development, JN Kansotia, said these plants would be given works from Joint venture companies once they are set. This condition would be included in the agreement of extension of time of works done by Agro and Joint Venture Companies.
Earlier, former Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had decided to give the work of nutritious food supply to self-help groups. The supply of nutritious food by self-help groups began after the High Court instructing the state government to get Joint venture companies stop the supply.
Several organizations, working for child welfare, have raised the issue of existing arrangement of nutritious food. The then Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan too has decided to give the work of supply of nutritious food to self-help groups.
