BHOPAL: An exhibition showcasing working models wearing masks for protection against Covid-19 was inaugurated here on Monday. Additional chief secretary JN Kansotia inaugurated the event organised by science communicator Sangeeta Gharu.
The models show that wearing mask is the only way one can protect oneself from Covid-19 till a vaccine or a cure for the lethal disease is discovered. In one of the experiments, as one model exhaled, coloured vapours came out from mouth. When one model sneezed, another placed beside it got infected.
But when mouths of both the models were covered with masks, the infection did not transmit. Similarly, when a door handle was touched by a visitor, his hands turned red, showing infection. Washing them with water had no effect but when the hands were washed with liquid soap, the red colour disappeared.
Gharu said models will be exhibited before a wider audience under Year of Awareness on Science and Health campaign of union ministry of science and technology.
