Bhopal: The former MLA from Sehore Ramesh Saxena and Sehore district panchayat president Urmila Maratha have joined the Congress party, here on Thursday. The leader has given big jolt to the BJP in the time of upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
The Sehore district is the home district of former chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and the joining of the leaders have given jolt to the BJP in the area.
Saxena is the former BJP leader and four times MLA, Urmila Maratha is also a BJP leader, they both had demanded the ticket from the party for the assembly election. The party denied ticket to both, Ramesh Saxena’s wife Usha Saxena contested the election as an independent candidate and secured 26,397 votes. On this Ramesh was expelled from party. Urmila Maratha also contested the election as a independent candidate from the Astha assembly, afterwards the BJP expelled her from the party.
The Lok Sabha elections are due in coming four months and both Congress and BJP are strengthening their party structure.
Political expert say that joining of popular leaders of BJP into Congress party has raised eye brows in the BJP camp. According to them these leaders will surely strengthen Congress’s camp and it will lead to a big loss to BJP in LS elections.
