Bhopal: An 83-year-old ex Army man and his assistant were trapped, sedated and then relieved of their belongings to the tune of Rs 2.5 lakh. They arrived on Sunday and stayed in a hotel near Hanumanganj. They were sedated inside their room of the hotel by a man they knew through advertisement in a newspaper.
The retired former colonel Harbansh Singh Sarna lives in Goa with his 44-year-old caretaker Rani. The duo had seen an advertisement in a news paper with a job profile for Rani, in Germany. As they wanted to have a tour abroad, they planned to send Rani there and Sarna too would have started living with her after she finds a house there.
When they contacted the advertiser following their arrival in Bhopal- he told them that he will meet them in the hotel. On meeting he told them that he needed Rani to look after his grandmother. Meanwhile, he offered them some eatables and after that they woke up in the evening only.
The hotel staff told police that their family members called them up as the duo was not answering their phone calls. They were taken to a hospital where they narrated the tale and later registered an FIR with Hanumangan police. The accused is seen in the CCTV footage of the hotel and he is on the run.
