BHOPAL: The Congress has demanded kerosene be sold in open market to check its black marketing in the state. With distribution of gas connection under PM Ujjwala Yojana, kerosene distribution has been stopped in the state. The issue came up during discussion on demand for grant of food and civil supplies and labour department. Grant of Rs 1,790.37 crore was passed.

Hina Kanware of the Congress said, “Gender discrimination is prevailing in fixing of wages. Women labourers are given lesser wages than men. It is a matter of deep concern. Second, kerosene distribution has been stopped after Ujjwala Yojana. It is a good thing that gas connections are distributed but there is need for kerosene to lit lanterns and earthen lamps in case of load shedding. Third, paddy procurement is made by societies and it is dumped in godowns and then transported to millers and then it is again dumped in godowns before being transported to PDS for distribution while in states like Chhattisgarh, paddy is directly sent to the millers and rice is directly transported to PDS centres for distribution, thus saving cost. This pattern can be adopted in MP also.”

Saurav Singh of the Congress said, “Proper PF accounts are not maintained by the companies as they do not sign proper contracts with workers.” Sudershan Gupta of BJP said, “There is no need of helmet in city as vehicles literally creep. So to make helmet mandatory for petrol and traffic is useless in city. It may be good for bypass and ring roads.”

Bahadoor Singh of BJP said, “Earlier, it needed Rs 4,300 for full tank refilling of diesel in my SUV but petrol pump dealers charged Rs 4,600 and filled 3.5 lt less diesel in my SUV tank. So such practices are common at petrol pumps and the minister should take action.”

Minister for food and civil supplies and labour Om Prakash Dhruve said, “PDS shops will be opened for every 800 BPL card holders in MP. Thirty three per cent PDS will be operated by women. Over 5.36 crore people have been covered under Food security bill. Food is being distributed in all the 16 municipal corporations through Aadhar-based biometric system. Second, food transporting vehicles will be of special colour with GPS system to check malpractices.” The minister said the suggestions of Hina Kanware regarding transportation expenses will be considered.
