BHOPAL: The Economic Offences Wing has filed cases against the 23 officials of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, education department of Jhabua and Alirajpur districts, for siphoning off Rs 3.5 crore.
The Indore unit of EOW has registered 13 cases against the 23 officials of district Shiksha Kendra, under Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan of Alirajpur and Jhabua districts.
In the audit report of three years, 2007 to 2010 it was found that in the both districts the officials like, district programme coordinator, block resource coordinator has misused their post and had embezzled funds.
The amount has reached to Rs 3 crore and 50 lakh, through the general administration department the School Education Department have filed the complaint to the EOW against the officials.
The EOW have filed the case against the then two DPCs, SC Soni and Subash Trivedi, and accountant Mahesh Rathore and Chandra Prakash Tripathi, 12 BRCs and one section in-charge all of Jhabua district and three BRC and one accountant of Alirajpur.
In the investigation it is found that the officials have purchased the items without calling tenders and also paid the amount without following the procedures. The officials have also violated the stores purchase rules and no records were maintained.
