BHOPAL: International Women’s Day programme organised by Uday Shahari Basti Development Society witnessed participation by 335 women. DSP Sunita Kalaeniya was the chief guest. She discussed women helpline number 1090 and told participants that any women suffering exploitation like domestic violence, rape etc report it on this number.
Even the children and senior citizen can also report such incidents. Jaya Acharya, member of the Women cell, discussed physical, verbal, gender and financial exploitation. Stating that exploitation starts from the family, she said that women should nurture their children in a healthy environment. Coordinator of the Uday Society Sister Rosely said that empowerment of women was a must to bring about a change in the society.
