BHOPAL: The Election Commission has reversed the state government’s decision to appoint Alok Kumar Singh as the collector of Anuppur just before the election model code of conduct coming into effect in the poll-bound Shahdol Lok Sabha constituency.
The Commission has appointed Ajay Kumar Sharma, whom Singh had succeeded, as Anuppur collector. Sharma was transferred as additional managing director, Rajya Shiksha Kendra. The state government has posted now posted Singh as regional manager, food and civil supplies corporation.
The state Congress had lodged a complaint with the EC alleging that the new collector was posted in view of the upcoming elections. The Commission, acting on the complaint, had sought report from the election observer and decided to remove Singh.
