BHOPAL: The Election Commission has directed principal secretary, Labour, BR Naidu to probe the charge that Vivek Agarwal, secretary in the chief minister’s office was mounting pressure on government officers posted in Shahdol Lok Sabha constituency to swing votes in favour of the BJP candidate. Polling is scheduled in Shahdol in November 19.
Congress spokesperson JP Dhanopia had filed a complaint with the Election Commission alleging that Agarwal had phoned the officers of the area and pressurised them to release funds under various government schemes and to speed up the work on projects to benefit the ruling party. Joint chief electoral officer SS Bansal informed that Naidu will collect the call details of Agarwal as part of the enquiry.
