A team of Election Commission of India, New Delhi would be coming to city and then fly to Sagar and Rewa to review election preparations on Saturday. The team would be headed by Deputy Election Commissioner of ECI, Chandra Bhushan Kumar and director Vikram Batra.
This would be the first review visit by a team of Election Commission of India after announcement of assembly polls in the state. The election team would then fly to Sagar in state plane at around 10 in the morning. Chief Electoral Officer of Madhya Pradesh, VL Kantha Rao would accompany the team to Sagar. The team would later fly to Rewa to take stock of situation.
The team would then review poll preparations of Sagar division that includes Panna, Damoh, Chhatarpur, Sagar and Tikamgarh districts. The poll review includes law and order situation besides implementation of model code of conduct.
The central team of ECI in its meeting with officials of the division would take account of EVMs and VVPATs and the training provided to the election teams.
Moreover, pick and drop facility for persons with disability and senior citizens above 80 years of age would be focussed specially as they have been introduced for the first time. Participation of women and preparations related with ‘women polling booths’ too would assessed. Law and order arrangements would be reviewed along with local challenges of the area.
The central election team would be visiting again next week to review poll preparations of other divisions. A visit of full bench of the Election Commission of India is expected in the beginning of next month for the final review of preparations of assembly elections in the state.
